Ridiculous musicianship all around in this one with the Zawinul Syndicate… Listen for the Ellington-like horn section Zawinul plays around 3:20 (he had said the sound of The Duke’s horn section was a big influence). RIP Joe.
Paco Sery is from the Ivory Coast and a very fluid, dynamic, and precise drummer. There’s a sense of forward propulsion in his playing without rushing. Here he is teamed up with Richard Bona on bass and Manolo Badrena on percussion.
